Against a dramatic dark sky, the cypress tree perches on a rock along 17-Mile Drive in Carmel. This California ocean seascape is part of the Dreamscapes series, which combines my original paintings with digital enhancements. The grunge texture give the piece a weathered, Victorian Gothic feel.

I have been painting most of my life. Much of my inspiration comes from the beautiful natural landscape of the wst coast...the woods, the ocean, the rolling hills, the native wildflowers and wildlife. Even the surreal tree branches in the Zen series are often taken from the gnarled old oak trees I see on my walks. Other inspirations include teapots (I love tea) and animals, especially cats.
